“The mission of Ultimate Outdoors Radio is to provide up-to-date and intriguing information and stories about Ultimate Outdoors experiences from those who have lived them.

Delivered in an entertaining and personal style, both on the radio and on the web, we strive to share our passion and appreciation for the outdoors, regardless of the experience or experience level.”

About the Ultimate Team



Ultimate Outdoors Radio is a partnership between three guys who like to spend time outdoors: Wally Banfi, Terry Frey and Gary N-Ski. Each brings a unique set of talents, experiences and perspectives to the team. The radio team consists of Wally, Terry and Gary. Gary brings photography and videography talents to the table as well. So, here’s a bit more about the team members:

Wally grew up in Madison, WI and has a special interest in the Madison Chain of Lakes, Lake Wisconsin and the Lower Wisconsin River. As co-host of our show on WTSO, Wally uses his vast field experience gained through over 20 years of guiding experience to bring unique local knowledge and info to the show. Additionally, Wally sells sporting goods for Wilderness Fish and Game in Sauk City, WI and has wide exposure to the hunting and fishing public. As a former co-host of “Outdoor Horizons Radio” on WTDY, Madison, WI, Waldog is a seasoned pro behind the mic. His credits include several T.V. appearances, including an annual episode of “Northland Adventures” with Dave Carlson, as well as over 25 years as a presenter at fishing clinics & store promotions throughout Wisconsin and Illinois. A licensed fishing guide, Wally is a co-founder of “Four Lakes Guide Association” based in Madison, WI. Wally is a popular and informative seminar speaker with over 30 years experience in the fishing tackle industry.

“Captain” Terry has hunted, fished and enjoyed the outdoors throughout the Midwest, the American West, as well as Alaska, Canada and Mexico. As one of our co-hosts, Terry has been a previous contributor to “Outdoor Horizons Radio” on WTDY, Madison, WI, as well as having made several guest appearances on “Northland Adventures” with Dave Carlson. Terry has also been featured in stories in The Wisconsin State Journal and other local newspapers. A USCG Licensed Captain and licensed fishing guide, Terry owns “Great River Guide Service, LLC”, guiding multi-species trips on the Madison Chain, Lake Wisconsin, The Wisconsin and Mississippi Rivers. This member of “Four Lakes Guide Association” has previously qualified for Cabela’s National Walleye Tournament. Another popular fishing technique speaker at professional seminars and workshops, Terry has also worked to promote and organize kids fishing events. Heavily involved in the battle against CWD, Terry was appointed to Dane County CWD Task Force, and represented Wisconsin at the National CWD Symposium in Denver, CO. Captain has also served as State Chair for Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF) and is a RMEF Representative to the Wisconsin Elk Reintroduction Advisory Committee.

Gary “The Shooter” N-Ski

A product of the tamarac swamps near Eau Claire, WI, “The Shooter” is an award-winning photographer with over 35 years experience and dozens of state and national photography awards. Skilled as both a photojournalist and fine arts photographer, Gary is a member of  the National Press Photographers Association and the American Society of Media Photographers. Gary’s images have been published in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Wisconsin State Journal, The Missoulian, Montana Trails Magazine, Anchorage Times, Pheasants Forever, Country Magazine, Hometown Newsgroup, Wisconsin Academy of Arts & Science, LodiValleyNews.Com and other publications. His recent exhibitions include Commonwealth Gallery, Pyle Center and Overture Center, Madison, WI. Gary has served as Photography Coordinator for the UW-LaCrosse Mass Communications Department and is a former photography instructor at University of Alaska, Madison College and the Glacier Conservatory of Music and Fine Arts. Gary is a founding member of artsTribe-a visual arts collective based in Madison WI, owner of Good Ideas Company LLC, Spring Creek Photoworks and founder and co-owner of LodiValleyNews.com, a local online info source. Gary has lived in Montana, Alaska and England.
